Tameka's Project 4
« on: May 19, 2017, 11:02:49 AM »
I'd like to do a Japanese bridge over a pond for my project. I'm aiming to have the looks of Japanese manga comic lines mixed with a watercolor shading look. I'm expecting to be creating a bunch of little shaders added in ways to get complexity.

:) Interesting, though I do like the style in water colors on the last reference image.

Posting WIP. My subject matter changed to a fruit bowl because of my lack of modeling skills. I experimented with shading techniques, now I need to give it a cohesive look.

Great work in progress for the shaders. I like the line techniques used in creating form for the fruits on the plate. The background is simplified too so that the viewer's eyes are focused on the primary subjects in your scene. From here, I think you could try brightening some of the fruits in the scene, the grapes and cherries are a bit dark. Best on your final rendition!

Love the variety on this! Both in colors and shadings. I feel like the background is a little loud / distracting from the still life - I wonder if there's a way you can keep it energetic but not let it steal as much of the attention. Maybe grab inspiration from a traditional picnic blanket? (Some sort of alternative plaid?)

I ended up getting inspiration from fruit pattern images and graphic illustration art. I'm wondering if it's too busy now.

:o Really awesome job! It reminds me of 90's style 3D animation lol

I like the variety of colors and texture styles.  8)

Your fruit looks well modeled. I like how the textures  showcase all of the techniques we are learning.

The bold outline adds so much to the composition. Looks very nice

Love the new composition - I don't think the background is too busy, but if you have time to dull it just a little to let the subjects shine through more then it could look good? Really fun piece though.

I like how you have a lot of different shaders going on, it's a fun piece to look at!
